With being a late summer birthday, we've decided to "red shirt" him this year (aka, will not be going to kindergarten). We don't like the term "holding him back", because if anything, we think we are giving him a gift of another year. It was a very difficult decision to make, but feel very comfortable now. We've gotten a lot of support from friends and family with our decision, so that has been helpful. He will be attending St. Rose PreK. St. Rose is a Catholic elementary school in Proctor. They have a PreK program that is full day (8:10-2:30) and he will be going on the days that I work (M, T, Th). He will be able to ride a dedicated PreK/kindergarten bus back to daycare. We are so blessed to have found this program. It seems like it is going to fit our family very well. I get one more year of being home on Wednesdays and Fridays with both my kids, and yet he gets the benefit of going to school.
Isaac continues to be a thoughtful, kind kid. He is quick to say please and thank you. And when Piper starts to cry, he'll get her blanket and favorite stuffed animal. When Eddy and I are leaving, he is sure to give us a kiss and hug goodbye and will wave out the window as we drive away. We love having such a sweet boy in our lives. He loves spending time with his grandparents and likes talking to them on the phone. He is still loving everything trains. And Scooby Doo. But now he's added in super heroes. Any ones you can think of: Batman, Spiderman, Captain America. We've heard him ask for a "Batman train" before. Not sure if that's going to happen!
We celebrated with my side of the family the weekend before. He had a great time being the center of attention.
Then on his actualy birthday, we had Eddy's side of the family over. So many new toys and games to play with!

what a sweetie! it sounds like the perfect arrangement for the school year. if max had any later of a birthday (he's in may), he'd be waiting until he is six to start too. that's a whole extra year of childhood when you think about it! there is no need to rush it. plus, i'm an august birthday that started at 5 and growing up it was a bummer to be the youngest in my class! :)
