Isaac!
Isaac hit a couple of big milestones after I got back from Ireland! On October 22, while eating oatmeal, he was complaining that something was stuck between his teeth. I looked, but didn't see anything. He continued to complain, so I got the floss out (not uncommon for me to do, as his teeth are very close together and food seems to get stuck often). I figured I'd be appeasing him, since I really didn't see anything. Well, the second tooth that I flossed between was LOOSE!! The front, bottom left tooth was LOOSE! I was not prepared for this. As soon as I told him, he started to cry and went up to his bedroom. Poor kid. He doesn't like to make a big deal out of things and I had gone and got all excited. He made us promise not to talk to anyone about it. Two days later (Monday, Oct 24) I dropped him off at school and whispered the news of the loose tooth to his teacher. She wanted to get excited, but I told her to keep it low-key. Sure enough, after lunch he came up to her with his tooth in his hand! That night he told us that he thought the tooth fairy would be bringing him a new train. Uh, no. I informed him that the tooth fairy only brings money. So we put the tooth in a little pouch next to his bed (he didn't want it under his pillow) and in its place in the morning were four shiny quarters.
As that wasn't enough, on Saturday, October 29, he decided that he wanted his training wheels off of his bike. We attempted this one other time this summer, but it didn't last long. I had wanted to watch him play in the front yard while Piper napped and I payed bills (blech. I despise this chore, but thought it'd be better doing it outside, while watching Isaac). So I was hesitant to do it, because I really needed to pay bills. But he was insistent, so I obliged. There was about 30 minutes of whining and "I'm not smart enough to do it" and him getting frustrated....then all of a sudden, he's biking half-way down the driveway! He was whining something like "I can't do it....well....I'm kinda doing it". It was amazing!! My heart was bursting with pride. He even let me get a couple of pictures and videos, then we walked over the neighbor's house to show Judy.
