A Weekend Away

I was able to make a weekend trip up to Duluth for a weekend without kids, to see some friends. With the busyness of the holidays over, I was really missing my former life. Eddy's dad actually came down here for the weekend, as Eddy had a baseball camp all day on Saturday, so I'm sure the kids barely noticed I was gone!

I didn't get to Duluth til about 11pm Friday night. Courtney and I stayed up WAY too late talking, but it was so great to be face to face, catching up on life. Saturday morning I was able to meet three former co-workers who made leaving my job VERY difficult. My collaborating doc and two clinical assistants are wonderful people and made work fun. I'm so grateful they were able to make time to meet me for breakfast. I really hope all of them will take me up on my offer to come visit this summer. It'd be a cheap vacation--place to stay with a pool and good baseball to watch!

Courtney and I walked around the mall later Saturday. I know there MUST be malls within an hour of our house, but with working full time and having busy weekends, shopping has not been high on the list. It was fun walking around with my friend and buying a few things. Saturday night Michaela, Courtney, and I went to a nice place for dinner and then a martini bar after that. Michaela and I enjoyed a few drinks while our preggo DD had some Dt. Coke! Being with them felt like I hadn't ever left.

Sunday morning I was able to meet a friend that we used to live next door to. Most people would say "neighbor", but she has become much more than that. We haven't been able to talk much since I moved, but our conversation picked up like we had seen each other last week. Again, I am hopeful that she and her husband will come visit this summer.

The weekend went by too quickly and was much too short. And the list of people that I would have liked to have seen was long. But I am so grateful I got to see some of the most important ones. My friends are good for my soul. I needed this weekend to rejuvenate and reconnect.
