A trip...without Isaac

Eddy was scheduled to attend the American Baseball Coaches Association's National Convention in San Diego after Christmas. Thanks to our parents, I was able to go along (and not take Isaac). From what we know, both sets of grandparents had a great time...and we got a little R&R! We flew in New Year's Eve day. Explored an area called Seaport Village and went to the Gaslamp Quarter for dinner. We didn't do anything exciting when the clock struck midnight, but that was ok by us.

Thursday afternoon we took a trolley to visit relatives. One of my dad's sisters and her family live in San Diego. My grandparents were also there, so that was fun visiting them. That night we ate at the Kansas City Barbeque--the "dirty bar scene" in Top Gun was filmed there!

Friday we were planning on taking a ferry to Coronado Island, but it was pretty foggy, so instead we went to the San Diego Zoo. It was the one time on the trip where we said "Isaac would love this" over and over again! We took a bunch of pictures to show Isaac.

Ok, so you didn't think I wasn't going to take a picture of the flamingos, did you?!

The one picture we have of both of us

Saturday and Sunday were Eddy's busiest days of the conference. I read a book, relaxed, took a nap, and did more window-shopping at Seaport Village. Sunday my uncle and grandfather picked me up and we met another aunt and uncle who drove from St. Paul to San Diego for a visit, as well as my grandma. So, it was a mini-family reunion! It was cool to get together in San Diego when all but my aunt and uncle live in Minnesota!

Sunday evening we were able to meet a couple of friends who live in San Diego for drinks...well, they had drinks. I had Diet Coke. We had a great time. Eddy finished up the conference Monday morning and our flight left at 2pm. We were lucky when we booked our trip in that we flew out of Duluth and from Minneapolis we had a direct flight. Our flights were pretty uneventful. No horror stories this time. Got home a little after midnight. Isaac was sleeping in his crib, while Eddy's brother waited for us. We think Isaac grew 6 inches and his vocabulary expanded tremendously while we were gone! It's nice to be home.
