Rest of the Weekend

The rest of the weekend went by rather quickly. A couple of highlights were going to visit Jodi, who had her second child, a son, Van, on Friday. Myla is their first child, who is the same age as Isaac. Also in the pic is Michaela, whose oldest son, Connor, is also two. Baby and family are doing great.

Saturday afternoon Eddy’s team had their “black vs. gold” intersquad game. A lot of parents showed up to watch, which was neat. Isaac ran out onto the field when the game was done.

We finally put house numbers up on our garage. But then the really ugly brass/rust lights looked really bad, so I got some silver spray paint and painted them. Of course it took way longer than I anticipated, but am happy with the result.

Suddenly Isaac is infatuated with Santa Claus and snowmen. We were looking through his scrapbook and there is a picture of him, at 3months old, with Santa. Since then, he's loving Santa. I dug through our decorations and pulled these two stuffed decorations out. Now, thanks to the comercialization of Christmas, we can all hear how much Isaac loves Santa when we go in to stores like Menard's and Kohl's, which already have their Christmas stuff out.

Seseme Street Live!

Friday night we went to Seseme Street Live--Isaac did really well! He wasn't too sure at first (first picture), then after he saw elmo (second picture) he was fine. We had good seats and it was neat to see all the characters in action (third picture). The last picture is of Isaac feeding Eddy cotton candy, not wanting to miss any of the show! the video below is a little dark, but Isaac got into the music and started clapping!

Friday

It's a little difficult to read, but Isaac's shirt says "sleepyhead". Before going to bed everynight, I go in and check on him. Some nights he's on his stomach with his tush in the air, and other times he's flat on his back. It throws me a little when he's laying on his back all stretched out; he looks so big.

Here's a little video of Isaac all domesticated!

Wish us luck...Elmo and the gang are going to be at the DECC tonight, and we'll be there to see him!

hands in pockets

So, to embarass my son as little as possible, let me say it this way--our daycare provider's son, who is 10, is trying to teach Isaac to put his hands in his pockets, instead of um, in other places. Need I say more?

Eddy's sister Carrie, delivered a healthy, beautiful baby boy on Wednesday,Sept 17! His name is Derek Steven. He was 7lbs 6oz and 20 inches long. They had a difficult time deciding on a first name and Steven is after both grandpas! Mom and baby, as well as dad and sisters, are doing well.

New pictures

I've taken a mish-mash of pictures the last couple days and thought I'd share them. This one is in honor of my mom--I know she'd like the shirt Isaac is wearing, which says "voted most likely to be amazing".

This is Isaac's idea of hiding. We were playing in my bedroom, and Isaac "hid" and waited for me to find him. Nothin' like laying on the floor with your arm covering your face!

Not to make any of you jealous, but I organized my closet and had to take a picture, as it may not look like this for a long time!

My good friend, Jodi, is pregnant with baby #2 and is due this Friday. She has a henna tatoo on her belly. The kids were saying goodbye to the baby.

On both sides of our house, there are 2 sets of trellis that are (supposed) to have clematis climbing up them. On one side of the house, I waited to long to get it to vine up the trellis, so it's really bushy on the bottom and never flowered. On the other side, it gets full sun, and my neighbor says the sun fries it. I've been focusing on other parts of the yard, so haven't done anything with it. I have noticed that several vines have died and new ones have sprouted. Today, I saw one lonely little flower.

house/yard updates

I was in the process of painting our family room the last time I took pictures of our house...the painting's been done for awhile, but we finially put the last of the pictures up on the wall. I'm really pleased with how it turned out! Eddy wasn't sure about the orange walls at first, but he's come around.

This is the view looking down from the formal living room.

Standing by the piano, looking back up.

Under our family picture, my intent is to have a bunch of frames with pictures of all of our family members. We're missing a few, but will be filled in soon.

And this is the project that has been on my mind since we moved it (and laying on the floor for the past several days).

Eddy's been busy working on the grass and the landscaping/flowers are my thing. It's been amazing to look out onto our back yard and see how much it's changed. It will be fun to see flowers actually bloom next year (I think a lot of them were too crowded-out by weeds to flower this year).

This is looking out, off of the sunroom.

The section with the rocks was completely covered by weeks a few weeks ago. With Eddy's help, the weeds were pulled to expose the rocks, and more rocks were moved from where the wood chips are now. The wood chips make a small circular path around some landscaping. I planted two blue hydrangeas and one hosta in the rocks. The ground cover near the bird fountain had completely taken over the back yard landscaping. Some of it is ok, but it was getting overgrown.

This is a partial view of the center section of landscaping that is encompassed by wood chips. I was able to get some perennials at a garage sale down the street and have "discovered" many plants that two owners previous to us had planted.

On-Line Scrapbook

I found a site that allows not-into-real-scrapbooking-people like me to make on-line scrapbooks. I put this together with some older and new pictures of Isaac and I. Enjoy.

A Quick Update

This past Friday, one of my best friends, Courtney, and I drove to St. Cloud...we did some shopping (uh, if you don't want to spend $$, don't go shopping with me!), met up with my sister, ate at Chipotle (yum!), and did some more shopping. We back to Lindsey's place and changed clothes. A family friend, Brooke, was getting married and I was reading in the wedding. So off we went to the rehersal and dinner. My parents were at Lindsey and Paul's when we got back. Saturday morning we did some more shopping then got ready for the wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and we had a great time at the reception and dance. Oh yeah, did I mention we did NOT bring our children (or husbands, for that matter) with us! In all honesty, Eddy started Fall Ball this past weekend, so Courtney was awesome and agreed to be my date. Before leaving on Friday, I made a conscious decision to not bring my camera...seems like it's usually an extra appendage on my body, so I wanted to break free! I'm waiting for my parents to e-mail a few so I can post them.

A Few Random Pictures

Yesterday morning while Eddy and his friend Brian were golfing, Isaac and I were having a little fun with the camera. He likes playing with my sunglasses (purposely only buy the super-cheap ones from Target), so I snapped a picture of my cool dude in shades.

Isaac has also caught on very quickly that after I take a picture, he can see himself on camera. But he doesn't understand the concept that I have to take a picture first, before he'll show up on the screen. My sister and her husband are really good at doing those "put your heads together and take a picture of yourselves from arm's reach" pictures, so I thought I'd try my luck with Isaac. I'm actually pleased with how it turned out.

I also captured him on film saying some of his favorite words, including "good morning", "cheese", "frog", "ribbit, and "no mama".

We had some friends over, the Bergs, for an impromtu get-together last night. Their little girl is 15 months old. Isaac really likes to give kisses, so as soon as Isaac saw her, he went right in for the kill...I think she likes to give kisses, too!

This video was taken this morning. Eddy was throwing Isaac up in the air and as soon as he'd stop, Isaac said "more", so Eddy would start up again. It's fun to watch Isaac smile and laugh.
