First Baseball Game

Isaac had his first baseball game tonight. The season was supposed to start a couple of weeks ago, but we've had a really wet spring. Isaac is in the "intermediates" of Little League, with 6-8 year olds playing. There's more "rules of the game" being followed, so it's a little more interesting to watch! Isaac did great!

Weekend Update

Early Friday morning, Eddy left for Milwaukee to coach the Chinooks. My parents were here, which I wasn't sure I would want (wouldn't have time as just a family of 4 before he left), but turns out it was really nice having them around. My parents left that day and my sister and Jason came later that night. It was really nice having a distraction from Eddy being gone.

Jason flapped his arms like a little bird every time the train went by!

I love this little guy!!

Isaac and Piper think their cousin is super awesome!

Great Grandparents

Eddy's grandparents drove out from New Hampshire to visit. We are so grateful they are able to make the drive. The kids were very excited to see them! I was sure to get a bunch of pictures. The one with all of us is on my real camera, since I used a tripod and timer, but here are the ones I have for now...

We are looking to spending some time with them!!

A Finished Bathroom

Over a year ago I painted the downstairs bathroom. I was also ambitious, so took off the doors to the vanity, to stain it a darker color. Since I was painting, I thought it'd be a good time to get rid of the builder's grade light fixture and replace it. Well, that got taken care of because an electrician came out (the extricating box was in the light, NOT in the wall, like I needed it to be!). After I painted it, I realized it was really bad. hideous, in fact. And when I was painting, I noticed that the mudding and taping job was REALLY bad. So we hired a guy to come out and fix it, and paint it a more palatable green. And then it sat. For a long time. A year, in fact. But that ended yesterday! I finished staining the vanity and put up the toilet paper holder, towel ring, and towel bar. And I took pockets of all of it. Why? Because it's finally done.

Of course it'd be more dramatic if I had before pictures, but oh well!

Forever Friends

Courtney and I drove down to the Cities with our girls to see Megan and her daughter, as they were back in Minnesota for a few weeks. Between our phone calls and Megan flying back often (so grateful for that!), we are able to maintain an awesome friendship.

Our girls!

We would be so lucky of our girls grew up to be as great of friends that we are!

Mother's Day

On this day seven years ago, I was pregnant and graduating with my Master's degree. Eddy gave me a peridot earring and necklace as a Mother's Day/graduation gift, since our baby was due in August. Such a fun time in our lives! So many exciting things to look forward to. As it turned out, I passed the national certification exam and Isaac was born the same day Eddy was set to start his new job as head baseball coach at UW-Superior. With all of the new stuff going on in our lives, being a mother was the most overwhelming but amazing thing I had ever done.

And on this day four years ago, I celebrated Mother's Day with an awesome 2 1/2 year old and being 7 1/2 months pregnant. Eddy gave me a "two peas in a pod" necklace, in anticipation of being a mom of two. And on June 14, ten days before her due date, we had a girl! Piper Isabelle. When I think about that day, I am still shocked that we had a girl. And I had the labor and delivery that we had planned on and worked so hard for. She was perfect.

And on this day one year ago, I got to be witness to my sister and her husband tell our parents that after over two years of fertility issues, they were going to be parents. What an awesome day that was.

And today. I am so blessed to be the mom of these two awesome kids. They fulfill me with such joy. I am amazed that God gave them to me. What a gift.

Fish!

Isaac has been asking for a pet for a LONG time. Typically my "mommy's allergic" routine works pretty well to cut off the discussion. But then the "fish" talk started. So we made him a chore chart. It was made of 6 things he needed to do on a daily basis for 21 days. And, sure to crap, he did a pretty good job.

So Eddy took the kids to PetCo and Isaac got a special tank that can hold TWO Betta fish. Ugh. To say that I am NOT thrilled about having fish is an understatement. Basically it's because I don't want one more thing to take care of. But, to see Isaac so excited is fun to see.

Thursday and Friday

Thursday after work Isaac agreed to ride his bike while I went for a run. He was a great companion!

A few weeks ago at work, I *jokingly* started to campaign for my employer's Nurse of the Year award. It was all in good fun--I brought brownies, made campaign signs, and had blank nomination forms for my co-workers to fill out. It made work fun. Well, I didn't win, but I was TRUE winner. My coworkers asked me to come up to the reception area on Friday and they had something for me. They made me a sash that said "Nurse of the Year", bedazzled a paper nurse's hat, and made a bouquet out of tongue depressors and giant cotton swabs. It was AWESOME!! I love the people I work with!

Fun Times

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted. Time has been flying by recently! The weather HAD been nice, so the kids and I, along with neighbor W, went for a bike ride. It was fun to see the "bike posse" in the neighborhood!

Piper has been playing "baby" a lot lately. She likes to be the mom, wear a purse and flip flops, and take her baby to run errands. She calls the baby "honey", which is so cute, I chuckle a little every time she says it!

She doesn't often fall asleep in random places anymore, so when she fell asleep watching a movie on the iPad, I had to snap a picture.

Isaac's class had a mom's program last Friday. I was grateful to be able to take a few hours off of work to go. The kids sang several songs in one room, then we went into their classroom where they had tables all set up. Each student made a placement for their mom, colored a book, and made an "all about my mom" book. Isaac had to fill in the statement, "one important thing I want you to know is_____". He wrote in "when I'm at school I miss my mom". I love this kid!

May 5th was my mom's 60th birthday, so we spent the weekend in Frederic. Lindsey brought Jason. Our hubbies each had work, so it was the moms and kids visiting Grandma Becky and Grandpa J. The kids LOVE holding their cousin and are more than willing to let me take pictures of them!

The kids also like having "hot chocolate tea" (aka, hot cocoa in Grandma Becky's tea cups).

And of course they helped Grandma with blowing out her candles.

Grandpa J has an *interesting* had collection, so the kids played dress up.

We also celebrated an early Mother's Day.

We visited a local park on Sunday.

It's been a good couple of weeks!
