Eventful Weekend

Friday night was Isaac's last night in his crib! I had to mark the occasion by taking another picture of him sleeping. Yep, that's his puppy on top of his head.
Saturday morning I got up and hit the mother-load of all garage sales. Finally! Of course, everything for Isaac--6 pairs of pjs, new toys and books, a spring/fall Gap dress jacket, Bob the Builder plate. I think the firefighter hat and extinguisher was a hit!
Eddy's team had a double-header against UW-Stevens Point. Isaac and I packed up and headed over to the field. It was thirty-eight degrees when we left the house, so we were in winter gear. Fortunately, the weather was much nicer in Superior. Eddy's dad was there and we ended up staying for a very long first game (3 1/2 hours). Unfortunately, I'm not used to being outside and forgot to put sunscreen on our faces. You'll see the burn in upcoming pics.

Last night after supper we took down the crib and put Isaac's new bed in his room! He was a good helper.
He had fun testing out the new bed!

The first night in the new bed went really well. It was well past his bedtime by the time he went down, so I think that helped him not want to get out of the bed (not to mention the sunburn--does a number on your body!).
I heard him cry out at 1:30, he was on the floor, whimpering. So after rocking for a few minutes, he went back to bed without a fuss. He was up at 5:30, luckily I was able to convince him that it was still nighttime and he slept until 6:30. Not bad for a first night!
Today Isaac and I did some rearranging and now all of his books are on a bookshelf in his room. The last thing left is a dresser that will be coming this weekend! Isaac was ready for bed tonight at 5:30 when he remembered that one of his new pjs are Thomas the Train.

What a Day!

Today after Isaac woke up from his nap, we headed over to the ball field to watch the Yellowjackets play a double-header against UW-Stout. They won both games, 11-5 and 6-1. Go Jackets! They haven't won both games of a double-header conference game in 20+ years. After the games, Isaac and I went out onto the field and he saw the catcher's mask and wanted to put it on. Then he went out to the pitcher's mound to work on his throw. These pics are from my camera phone. Wish I would have brought my camera. When we got home, we had burgers on the grill and watermelon and canteleoupe for the first time this season. We'd give Isaac a few pieces of fruit at at time, then he's say "more please". It's starting to smell like summer!

30 Weeks

We're at 30 weeks already! Time has been going by so fast. I had an OB appointment on Wednesday. Heart rate in the 140s-150s, and my weight and blood pressure continue to be good. Just like the last appt, the doctor was feeling my belly to see if he could tell the baby's position (I wasn't confident it was head-down). He wasn't too sure, either. Then when he measured my belly, I measured at a 27-week size, when I should be at 30-weeks. So, I had an ultrasound Thursday. Luckily, all is ok...baby is head-down (so much for my accuracy in baby-positioning!), heart rate 136, amniotic fluid level is good...and the baby weighs 3 pounds 7 ounces. We feel very reassurred that baby is growing and there is nothing to worry about.
Here's an updated belly picture.

Isaac and I went to OfficeMax to get the ultrasound pictures scanned. They look clearer in person. Here's a closed fist and arm.

Here is a leg (on the left) and a foot.

This is a profile of baby's face, forehead up on the right and chin up on the left. The baby kept opening his/her mouth--reminded me of a little fish!

Mommy Time

A friend, Michaela, won a limo ride to/from Grizzley's for lunch and she got to invite 3 people...so fellow moms, Ruth, Jodi, and I got to go! Apparently the radio station does this on a weekly basis and it's the first time they've picked up 3 stay-at-home moms and one part-time working mom! It was nice to have adult conversation and be able to eat a whole meal uninterrupted! Thanks, Michaela!!

Fun Outside

After work and dinner tonight, Isaac and I headed outside to play. He had fun with his new bubble wand and chasing bubbles.

After that, we got out the chalk. Didn't really color much, instead seemed to enjoy breaking it into pieces and lining it up in a row!

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend. Lindsey and Paul, along with my parents came up for the weekend.

Shortly after my sister and her husband arrived, I checked the mail and Isaac got another book from the Imagination Library (he gets an age-appropriate hard-covered book once a month in the mail). I love the look of concentration on Isaac's face.

Grandma Becky wanted to dye eggs with Isaac. I think we all had fun taking a little trip down memory lane!

My parents, Eddy, Isaac and I headed to the Depot to the Train Museum Saturday morning. Isaac could barely contain himself, showing off all the trains to Grandma Becky and Grandpa J!

So, the Easter Bunny is well-aware that she (?) went overboard on the Easter basket this year.

Here's Isaac opening an egg to get to one of his treats.

My parents had a tradition of hiding Hershey's kisses around the living room when I was growing up, so we've decided to keep that going. This picture is Isaac search for the "hidden" treat!

Eddy's parents came over after church on Sunday. They brought over a set of baseball bases, so they had to try them out.

A Busy, But Very Fun, Day

Today our house was the spot for a gathering of Isaac and three of his friends (and of course the 3 siblings, too!) We thought it'd be fun to do a little Easter activity. Sometimes I'm creative, but I'm not really crafty, so I begged off on figuring out just what to do! It was a fun time.

The kids got to do a few art projects--coloring wooden eggs with markers and paint and decorating colored hard-boiled eggs.

Construction paper baskets were made for each of the kids. The basket color corresponded to the color eggs that belonged to each kid (gotta keep it fair!). Eggs were hidden around the house. It was fun to watch them go hunting for eggs!

Isaac had fun searching for his blue eggs.

The kids played outside for awhile before everyone headed home. The wagon has always been a hit.

My Aunt Diane and Uncle Lee were driving through Duluth today and stopped by for a visit. It was great to see them. They brought a huge container of sidewalk chalk, so we opened it up this afternoon. I think he's going to have a lot of fun with it this year!

Gotta love rain boots and puddles!

Isaac Gets the Last Laugh

Isaac and I headed to North Branch yesterday for a short day-trip. A friend who lives down there, Sara, scoped out the outlet furniture stores for me about a month ago; we need a dresser for Isaac so the changing table can go in the baby's room. It was great to see her and her family, and I got a dresser! Yippee!

Well, on the way home, Isaac had an accident while sitting in his car seat. He's done really well (aka, staying dry and letting me know when he has to pee), so I didn't put a diaper on him (either I should have put a diaper on him...or I shouldn't have proclaimed in my last post that he was doing really well with potty-training!). I took the car seat out when we got home and was going to switch it out with an extra seat we have. That's when I realized all three of the car seats we have were filthy and since I had to wash one cover, I might as well wash all of them. For those of you who have car seats, you know that dismantling them and putting them back together isn't exactly easy. I washed all three covers and wiped down the shells.

So this morning before church I decided to put a different car seat in the car. This did not sit well with Isaac and he pitched a fit almost the whole way to church. Let me mention this is a much nicer car seat than the one he usually sits in (two cup holders, thick foam cushion underneath the cover).

He did pretty well in church today, if you don't count the tantrum he threw because he wanted a toy that the kid sitting next to us had. I know it's hard being 2 1/2 and not understanding that just because you see a toy doesn't mean it's yours. He also let me know that he had to go to the bathroom and was able to avoid an accident.

After the service, we get to the car and he climbs in his carseat like a trooper and doesn't seem to be bothered by the fact that he's not in his usual car seat...until I'm strapping him in and he says "Mommy, I go potty" and he proceeds to pee ALL OVER the newly-cleaned/disinfected/thick-foam padding car seat. Unbelievable.

No April Fool's Joke

With Eddy being gone for several days earlier in the week, he was able to take the day off on Wednesday. We got a nice dumping of snow on April Fool's Day. Mother nature always gets the last laugh, doesn't she? So we spent part of the day outside shoveling, playing in the snow, and making a snowman. Isaac was fun to watch.

Isaac is doing really well with potty training! Accidents are few and far between. We still bring him to the bathroom without waiting for him to tell us he has to go, though. I got a suggestion from the receptionist at the clinic we go to--putting money in his piggy bank was the reward for using the toilet. It was great! We didn't want to reward with food/treats or give him a toy. We also bought green foaming soap, which he thought/still thinks is really cool. Diapers are reserved for naptime (he's dry a lot of the time) and overnight. One diaper in 24 hours--amazing! Isaac disrobes from the waist down to use the toilet...so now we're working on getting him to put his own underwear and pants back on. The other night he put his underwear on--backwards, but who's criticing (?!) and didn't want to put his pants on. He started dancing to one of the contestants singing on American Idol. Such a ham!

A few other updates. Eddy's team left tonight for their first conference series. Their record had been 7-2 up until Sunday. They had the opportunity to play St. Cloud State, which is a Division II school. Unfortunately they lost both games and also lost 2 games each to Concordia St. Paul and Viterbo. They are now 7-8 going into their first conference series this weekend. He has high expectations of his team; I think everyone is impressed with their progress, especially since this is only Eddy's third season (second recruiting class).

Work is going well for me. I work three days a week. I feel lucky to be able to practice as an NP and still have time to be home with Isaac. Hard to believe that I shadowed an NP when I was 14 and decided then that being an NP was what I wanted to do. 15 years later (!!) and I've already had 2 years as an NP under my belt.

We officially hit the third trimester of this pregnancy this week! 28 weeks down, 12 to go. Lots of movement from baby the past few days. Some days there's quite the show to see; my belly will move with all the movements baby makes.
