An Awesome Day

Today was awesome. Lindsey and I did a great run. The weather was beautiful. The kids got along. We waterskied. I actually got to read a magazine and fall asleep on the beach.

It was an awesome day.

Baseball & Wild Rice

Friday after work the kids and I drove to the cabin where my parents, sister and family, and Eddy would meet us. Eddy surprised Isaac by getting him catcher's equipment (which Isaac has been asking for). To say Isaac was THRILLED is an understatement.

Saturday morning Eddy and Isaac were out doing some catcher's drills.

And then after that, Isaac went to harvest wild rice with my dad. When the kids stayed with my parents last week my dad was telling Isaac about ricing. They even watched a few YouTube visors of it! Isaac said he wanted to go with him, so when dad went out on a local lake, Isaac went with. He made it about an hour before I got a call to come pick him up.

Special time with Grandpa J.

We are always very grateful for the time and energy it takes to harvest the rice. We definitely real the benefits!

First Soccer Game

We were out of town for Isaac's first scheduled soccer game, so tonight was his first game. Painful is the only way I can describe it. Isaac said he wanted to be goalie. When I asked why, he said "we'll it's better than running". Sounds like something I would have said when I was his age.

H down the majority of the game with either his hands blocking the sun, arms behind his back, or crouched down on the field.

This is Isaac on defense...

After the game as he was coming off the field, he crosses his arms and says, "well, I'm never doing THAT again".

This could be an interesting season.

Time at Home

A couple of pics with our favorite girl...

The kids had a good time practicing their baseball skills in the front yard with Eddy.

We LOVED having Eddy home. It reaffirms that we need to be living under the same roof, in the same town.

On his way back to Milwaukee, we called Eddy so he could say prayers with us. He mentioned how pretty the moon was, so the kids had to take a look too!

Isaac's Birthday Party

Isaac was SSSOOOO patient, waiting until Eddy was home to have his birthday party. We were grateful that on short notice, friends and family were able to join us.

It's amazing how the guys....

...and girls congregate!

After brats, watermelon, chicken salad, and chips, it was present time.

What a perfect gift! We DO love Duluth!!

Isaac realized that he was getting a remote control helicopter from our neighbors John and Diane.

Kids congregating around the cake.

It was too breezy to keep the candles lot, but he did a great job "blowing" them out!

The girls playing house!

Attitude!

The kids would play, run over and take a bite of cake, then run and play again!

The dads were great, organizing a game of baseball in the front yard!

It's times like these that make me really sad we are moving. Our neighbors have become amazing friends, friends continue to be important in our lives, and Eddy's brother and family are even more important in our lives as the cousins love to play together. More than the awesome gifts Isaac got, we are blessed to have these amazing people in our lives.

Mid-Day Fun

Luckily Piper felt better after her morning nap, because we had tickets to ride the North Shore Scenic Railroad. We've ridden it a few times, but it never gets old seeing how excited the kids get.

Waiting to board...

Getting our tickets punched...

Waiting for the train to start (in the middle of a heat advisory--95 degrees).

Isaac checking out the sites (and enjoying a lake breeze).

So much fun!

Another great family memory in Duluth.

A Busy Day

The got off to a questionable start when Piper woke up not feeling well. She had had a fever the previous day, but did fine with Tylenol. This morning she wanted me to be on the couch with her. Then she puked in the kitchen garbage three times.

Here is where she wanted to lay (at the top of the stairs, in the hall).

And while I was out running, she napped on the couch, at 9:45 in the morning.

While she napped, Isaac drew me a picture of the carriage ride, as a thank you for taking him on it.

I'm impressed with his attention to detail... even the horse poop bag (with horse poop in it). Oy!

Family Night

We had a showing on our house at 8:30 tonight, so we decided to have some fun as a family. The kids have been asking to go to Red Lobster, so we went...and then they ordered chicken strips!

Piper waiting for Eddy and Isaac to come outside after eating.

Eddy's parents gave us a gift certificate for a carriage ride in Canal Park for Christmas. So we headed over there and put our names on the list. We had a little bit of a wait, so we went down by the water.

The kids were so excited!

Isaac took this one!

It was a fun family night.
