36 Weeks

Had another OB appointment today. Eddy's dad was awesome and took Isaac, so Eddy could come with me. Everything seems status quo, although we briefly considered another ultrasound, because there was some question if baby was in the head-down position. Blood pressure is good, weight's good. My belly is actually measuring smaller again, 32 weeks when it should be 36. Baby has dropped a little, so that may explain for some of the difference. I'm dilated to 1 cm and 50% effaced (whoopie. doesn't mean much!)and the doctor seemed more confident about the head-down position after he checked me. He also said that if we went into labor now, he wouldn't do anything to stop it. Agh! He asked if we have a bag packed--uh, no, we don't. And I suppose we should get the infant car seat out of my in-laws garage. Better put that on the to-do list!

We also talked more about going in to labor, when to go to the hospital, and when the doctor will be there and what his role is. A very good friend of mine, Jodi, has had two home births and is very seriously considering becoming a doula. Eddy and I have asked her to help us prepare for labor/delivery and, if the timing works out, to be with us at the hospital. We think that having someone who has experience with "going natural" aka, breathing and other comfort measures, helping us out would be great. I've also realized that nurses in the hospital have a lot to do (other patients, paperwork, etc) and may not be able to help us like we'd hope. And, even though we've been through this once before, it can be chaotic in the hospital and we're so emotionally invested, having an advocate be there for us is very intriguing. No matter what happens, I have spent so much more time learning about pregnancy, labor, and delivery, that I feel I am more prepared and at ease with what may or may not happen.

A Few Projects Done & Some Fun

It's been a great holiday weekend...

I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to say "I'm done" working on the backyard, but for now I can be happy with how it looks. Although it may not look a lot different, there are some changes. We moved the basin for the fountain to raise it up (it was sinking down a little). I also made a new bamboo fountain, as the old one was weathered and falling apart. Several plants that I put in this fall actually survived and are starting to come up. And there are several shrubs that are just starting to bloom. More river rock have filled in some bare spots. I had to put in a new fountain pump because the old one kept tripping the breaker. And now that the electrician has come and figured out our outdoor wiring, the low-voltage lights and the fountain now work (aka, not a fire hazard/work when they want to/jimmy-rigged wiring)! YEAH!! I'm eager to put some annuals in the pots...

This is the view from the couch in the sunroom. Eddy's been wanting a tv out there since the day we moved in, and I finally caved. His dad came over and helped put up the wall mount. I have to admit, it's neat sitting out there in the evening.

One of Eddy's "to-dos" was to put up new lights in the hallway. I should've taken a before picture. It's not a huge change, but the old ones looked like pineapples and were shiny brass. These are brushed nickel (and I guess look like female anatomy!).

There's still a couple things I'd like to get to put on the walls, but for the basics, the baby's room is done! We're pleased with how it looks. The rocking chair is a recent garage sale find that my dad is going to spruce up for us. The trunk was my great-grandfather's when he came to America from Norway. I'm so excited that it will work in the room!

Isaac has been talking about going fishing (usually he requests to go with Grandpa J or Papa) for weeks. So we took him up to Fish Lake yesterday. Although we didn't get any fish, the weather was great and Isaac had a blast.

Isaac really likes tomatoes and had fun last summer picking cherry tomatoes off the vine last summer (I had a plant in a pot). So today we planted this year's plants. He was a great helper, even using the gardening gloves Papa got him.

I'm really going to try (seriously, I am!) to slow down now. At almost 36 weeks pregnant, I'm exhausted by the end of the day, and that's without doing any work. If anyone has some free time and wants to work on a project or two, come on over and help a pregnant lady out!

How I Rate

When I came home yesterday from work, I heard Isaac and Eddy in the kitchen. I hear Eddy say, "look who's home buddy". I walk up the stairs, hold my arms out and say "hi sweetie pie!". My son looks at me, runs right past me, and goes to the window to look to see who's here. Uh, it's me...your mother. What am I, chopped liver??

34 Weeks

I had an OB appointment today. All is well. Weight and blood pressure are good. Heart beat in the 150s-160s. Belly is still measuring a little small, but since we have confirmation from the ultrasound at 30 weeks that everything is ok, there's no need to worry. My doctor and I have spent some time the last two appointments talking more about labor and delivery... expectations, wishes, etc. He was not my doc when we had Isaac, so it's been nice to share what he usually does with what I'd like this time around. I'll go back in 2 weeks, and then weekly after that!

Isaac and I went to a friend's house for a playdate, so I asked her to take a belly picture for me.

Isaac and Myla were so cute mimicing me during the photo, so we had to include them in a picture!

The To-Do List & A Carnival

Now that Eddy's season is over (although, I should say recruiting is in full-swing), it's time to get The To-Do List out. This is the list of stuff I'd like to have done before the baby comes. Ambitious? Yes, but dang it, we're going to do our best! Eddy made great headway today--fixed the handle on a toilet, made a dump run, put in a new door knob to the garage, and started organizing the garage (that's going to be a 2-person job).

I tried being all "Design on a Dime" and spray paint the curtain rod in the baby's room. Well, I went to spray a second coat this morning and the paint bubbled. So on our run to Home Depot/Wal-Mart today, we got a new white rod. Should have been easy to change out, right? Wrong. How come everything takes so much more time than you anticipate?

Also on the list was for me to make a valence for Isaac's room. I ended up buying another set of bedsheets (the same ones as are on his bed). Eventually I'll make a bedskirt out of the material, too. Well, I went from "I'll get to the valence eventually", to "it has to get done right now". Combination type-A personality and nesting?!

We woke Isaac up from his nap to take him to the PBS Kids Club Carnival this afternoon. There was face painting, food, firetruck/police care, carnival-type blow-up activities, pictures with PBS characters, and a parade. Kids were encouraged to wear costumes, so we made use of the halloween costume.

One of the games the kids could do was go in a blow-up contraption that had balloons in it that blew all over the place. Isaac had a blast!

Bits & Pieces

Isaac has recently started refering to himself as "Isaac Richard". It's pretty cute!

This weekend was the last home game series for the Yellowjackets. Today, my sister and her husband, and my parents, came up to watch the team, as well as to celebrate Grandma Becky's birthday and Mother's Day. It was a great afternoon. It was particularily nice for me--several other people to help me entertain Isaac!

The team won 1 out of the 4-game series. Although their win/loss record isn't what we all hoped for, UWS won one game each against UW-Whitewater, UW-Stout (won 2 games), UW-Steven's Point, and UW-Oshkosh, which hasn't happened in almost 30 years. There's been improvement every year since Eddy's been the coach, and with as much work as he and the team put in, it's sure to continue. How many more days til the 2010 season opener? Uh, let's do the countdown for baby Morgan's arrival before we think about that!

Isaac has done really well with being in his new bed. He's fallen out a few times, but after we rock him for a minute and put him down, he's ok. The only other downfall so far is when he yells "I awake" and comes into our bedroom at 6am on the weekends. We put the crib back together in the baby's room. Isaac didn't seem to be bothered by it at all. We're all getting ready to be a family of four.
