Family Fun Day!

Eddy had the day off from baseball today, so we spent it spoiling the kids. The movie theater has a kids series of movies that play on the weekends at 10 am and are $2 a ticket. Today's show was the new Winnie The Pooh movie, so we thought it would be a good option for Piper's first movie theater experience! Isaac liked it too.

After the movie was done, we headed down to Red Lobster. Isaac has been asking to go there for a long time. We tried going last weekend, but the wait was too long. Lunch was a much better idea. I originally ordered shrimp for both of them, but Isaac was very disappointed he couldn't have lobster. So after we ordered, I was able to find the waitress and ordered the kid-size lobster tail. He was SO excited!

AND, if that wasn't enough, we stayed in Canal Park and went to Adventure Zone, an arcade, mini golf, kids play area place. Isaac had fun playing the games and Piper seemed content to watch.

It was a fun day! On the way home, Isaac said, "it was a wonderful day". And during prayers, when I ask the kids what they were most thankful for today, he said, "all of it". I'm ok with that!

Grocery Shopping

The kids are usually pretty good when I take them to the grocery store. I'm grateful, because with Eddy's crazy schedule, if I wanted to go alone, I'd probably be there at 9 o'clock at night. The kids know that Cub Foods lets them have an apple and a cookie, so that is incentive. And USUALLY, they sit in one of those "car carts". Well, there weren't any available on Wednesday when we went. But then they saw THESE...

Isaac wanted one, so of course Piper wanted one. It could have gone either REALLY good or REALLY, REALLY bad. I'm happy to report that they did great! I didn't have my own cart, since it wasn't that big of a trip, so I could help them with their carts. We got lots of looks--but I think they were looks of "oh, how cute"!

Hair

After bath tonight I French braided Piper's hair. She typically sleeps on her back, but must shake her head back and forth throughout the night, as she wakes up with quite the rat's nest in the back of her head! I'm hoping the braid will remedy that. She sits still well, as long as I tell her it looks pretty!

Baseball!

My parents were in town this weekend, meeting up with friends from Bemidji. The kids and I were fortunate to be able to see them Friday evening and again this afternoon. I think it hit 40 degrees outside, so we wet outside to play. Grandpa J was the pitcher and Isaac was able to practice his swing and base running. We had a blast!

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

Since his birthday is in August, Isaac got to celebrate his 1/2 birthday at school today! We brought snack (mini frosted sugar cookies, crackers sticks with cheese, and juice) and he wore a birthday shirt. He was very excited! His teacher, Ms. Mel, sent me this picture today.

He's been doing a really cheesy smile lately, which I'm not a huge fan of. My heart smiled when I saw this picture--it's his "true" smile and his eyes radiate happiness. I love this boy!

Weekend With Family

Friday afternoon I packed up the car and took the kids down to my parents' house for the weekend. Eddy needed to work on his Master's project, and it will be Dad's birthday this Tuesday, so we could celebrate. Saturday morning we put our skis on and headed out in their back yard.

Piper liked the skis for all of two minutes before she was done.

Isaac wanted to go out on the trails, but there were more hills than I remember, so we decided to just go in a loop around the backyard.

Once back inside, Grandma Becky had hot cocoa waiting for us.

Later in the afternoon while Piper was napping, Isaac and I put out snowshoes on and headed out for the trails.

Out on our adventure, we "found" Grandpa J!

He had a great time out in the woods!

After dinner we celebrated Grandpa J's birthday. I think the kids had more fun opening presents than he did! I realized all of those pictures are on my regular camera. The kids were pretty tired, and didn't fuss at bedtime.
