Our Kids

Yesterday Isaac and I went on a scenic train ride. He was so excited. J was fortunate to talk with a volunteer that offered to have Isaac ride the engine while they unhitched and rehitched at the other end of the train (I'm sure that's not the technical name for it!). He said "I so happy you took me on that train, mom. We do that again some day".

And because I'm rarely in front of the camera, I wanted to post this one!

With Eddy and I trying to be healthier (better eating habits and working out), eating out has been a rarity. But we took the kids out for a special lunch after church today. Piper quickly learned how to use a straw to get chocolate milk!

More Costumes

Last Christmas my sister and her hubby gave Isaac several costumes (GREAT gift idea--Halloween costumes AFTER the holiday are cheap!). Since then, he's had a ton of fun with them. I found a couple more at a garage sale last evening. Isaac said "I love you that you bought me this". Thanks, buddy!

Here he is telling Grandma Becky about his new knight costume.

I think we'll get a wig to go with this one! Look at Piper, wondering what her brother is doing!

Isaac is 4!!

It's hard to believe, but Isaac is four! Hard to believe that four years ago, August 9 at 5:45pm he came into this world. He is such an amazing kid. So inquisitive. Laughs easily. Loves his sister. And when he says, "Mom, I love you" out of the blue, it's enough to melt my heart.

Isaac started out his birthday weekend with Papa. Eddy, Piper and I headed to the cabin, but Isaac stayed back at Eddy's parents' house. Early the next morning, Papa took Isaac on a very special trip. They went to Lakeville to ride Thomas The Train! He told us all about riding Thomas and had many Thomas tattoos on his arms. Papa and Grandma also let him pick out a present--a Thomas conductor hat. Uncle Rich and Aunt Mona wanted to have him pick out his present there too, so now there's a Donald train to add to his collection. Pretty cool!

We celebrated his birthday at the cabin with my side of the family. He REALLY wanted a pinata, and Eddy didn't disappoint!
Family watching Isaac go at the pinata.

He was also asking for a police officer costume. He saw one in a magazine awhile back. He put it on instantly and proceded to arrest everyone, talk on the walky-talky, and give everyone a ticket!

He loved his new tackle box--a REAL one, not a "kid one". He was specific about his wishes! Grandma Becky and Grandpa J came through!
It was fun to watch him blow out candles. Tricky mom, she put some trick re-lighting candles on the cake!

Later on that day, we sat at the end of the dock to try out the new fishing net. With the sunnies, you don't even need a pole...some bread and a net will do ya!

He got so many presents and he loves all of them. For Eddy and I, it's not the presents. We're blessed to have family and friends around us who love Isaac and want to celebrate his birthday with us.
